What to wear when working at home

Posted on

I don't know about you but for the most part, most of us don't pay much attention to the stuff we wear at home. We ended up wearing all the clothes that won't dare to wear outside because it pretty much looks old, ripped or stained. The reason is probably the fact that we are doing house chores and we don't want the good stuff to get ruined.  In my case, this whole concept got worse as I started working from home about 3 years ago. I am constantly wrapped in a collection of pajamas, old tees, and flip flops.

Working at home can be challenging and rewarding all at the same time. You can make your own hours and schedules, you can work in your own office, you avoid traffic in the mornings and well, you have flexible time to do a couple of things in the house while working at the same time. Those are the rewards. The challenges are the fact that making your own schedule could be working too much or too little and getting distracted or coming out with hours that well, are totally crazy (that's my case right there) Another challenge that is also big for me is not getting dress. Wait! I am not walking around naked but I wear the same boring collection of yoga pants, tees with no bra, flip flops, and my hair is not done, sometimes I don't even brush it. I look like a total slob.

At this point, I have clothes in my closet that still have tags on them because I don't get to go anywhere during the week and on the weekends I have to do errands so I end up wearing the same yoga pants out of habit. I have lost the training of walking in four-inch heels and when I do go out I want to wear everything at once. This is bad because I consider my self a Fashion Curator (I will talk about this in another post) and not know how to put things together bothers me.

So, to be honest, I don't have an answer to this my self but I have read many blogs and articles of people that get dressed just to enter the office in their own house. It is proven that when dressing up we feel better and we perform better. The problem is that a lot of this for me has to do with the fact that I will be dressing up to sit in front of my computer and nobody will see, plus the fact that I live with way too many animals and cat and dog hair is going to stick to all my nice clothes....argh.

So I think that dressing up to stay working at home it is not my solution but I believe by putting makeup, daily moisturizer creams and other beauty hacks next to your desk will help you groom yourself a bit. So, I have been doing just that and it works for the most part. The other thing I want to start implementing is adding some clothing elements that are not as fancy and while not dressing up could make you feel better than a PJ.

Tunic Dresses, I think tunic dresses could be worn with a pair of flip flops and dress them up immediately with some heels and you would look chic and put together. So, I have started wearing some of this tunic dresses and feeling a little better about my sloppiness. Here are some that you can buy right now:
